The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (42 U.S.C. §300aa-26) requires healthcare providers to distribute a copy of a Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) prior to the administration of a vaccine. Vaccine Information Statements are information sheets produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that explain to vaccine recipients, their parents, or their legal representatives both the benefits and risks of a vaccine.
Vaccine Information Statements in foreign languages can be downloaded from the Immunization Action Coalition’s (IAC) website. IAC has translated Vaccine Information Statements into 41 languages.
